POTENTIAL ENGINEERS, DESIGNERS AND IMAGINEERS!

THIS YEARS MAKE IT IN MANUFACTURING CHALLENGE IS TO INVENT A CONCEPT FOR RECREATION EQUIPMENT AIMED AT TEENAGERS. WE WANT TO SEE YOU USING MANUFACTURING PRINCIPLES TO ENGINEER YOUR IDEA. EVEN IF YOUR SOLUTION ISN’T THE BEST, A WELL THOUGHT OUT DESIGN COULD STILL WIN!

THE BRIEF

Your local town is redeveloping a park/recreation area and want to create a fun, sociable space to appeal to 13–15-year-olds in an open, green space of 0.75 acres. Forget a slide, a swing and a roundabout! What would really appeal to young people and encourage them to use an outdoors area. Let your imagination run free!

Using your knowledge of materials and their qualities, basic understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes and what you would like to see in such a space dream up your design.

This could be for a single piece of equipment of any size or something specific such as a social space where you would like to meet friends and hang out.

You may like to encourage activity and fitness. We want the designs to be unusual, imaginative, futuristic. You may want to think about feasibility, materials, sustainability & the environment, construction, safety, ease of use, durability, accessibility, aesthetics.

We want to see concept ideas with descriptions of why it would be a good design for an activity area for teenagers and attract them to visit plus information about materials, size etc.

We cannot wait to see what you come up with!

Here are a few examples to get your brain moving...
