Electronic Engineering involves designing electronic circuits and software to make products work. The products can be anything from a washing machine or smartphone to a space rocket! Electronic design involves a lot of problem solving, connecting components together with a soldering iron, including LEDs and buttons, touchscreens, and sensors to measure things. These devices can also include wireless connections so they can be controlled from anywhere in the world. It is exciting to be working on the next big product and seeing it turn from an idea through to completion. At the heart of most products is a microcontroller; a tiny chip that can work incredibly fast, and they are programmed with the intelligence to control almost anything from a games console to keeping satellites in space. Electronic and software design is creative, fun, and rewarding, because it is great to see the finished product that you made being sold and used by others.
